The article overviews different approaches to production facility maintenance, analyzing which of them can provide most fail safetyto critical production processes. Special attention is given to industries that are most vulnerable to damage due to the downtime of the equipment: banking, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and data centers. Also, the aspects that influence productivity and durability of electrical equipment are taken into account - such as environmentalconditions, overloading and excessive number of operating cycles. The author discerns two types of maintenance programs: scheduled and on-demand. Through the comparison of two kindsof maintenance, it was determined that scheduled maintenance more effective in comparison with maintenance on demand. The article describes the technique of maintenance and requirements for the staff who inspects the equipment. It was concluded in the article, thatscheduled maintenance is more effective than maintenance on demand. Among the other benefits of scheduled maintenance is the opportunity to carry out scheduled maintenance without interrupting any processes. In addition, conduction of a scheduled maintenance leads to reduceof costs, increase of reliability and prolongation of life of electrical equipment, as long as increase of personnel safety. Itis estimated that investments in scheduled maintenance can help avoid the occurrence of up to 67% of the possible failuresof electrical equipment and, therefore, avoid the financial losses associated with downtime.
Results
As already mentioned, investing in a program of planned maintenance avoids up to 67% of the possible failures of electrical equipment and, therefore, the financial losses associated with downtime. Using such a program can reduce costs, improve reliability, extend the life ofelectrical equipment, as well as improve the safety of personnel.
Сonclusions
The scheduled maintenance is more effective than maintenance on demand. This approach leads to reduce of costs, increase of reliability and prolongationof life of electrical equipment, as long as increase of personnel safety. The scheduled maintenance can help avoid the occurrence of up to 67% of the possible failuresof electrical equipment and, therefore, avoid the financial losses associated with downtime. Special attention is given to industries that are most vulnerable to damage due to the downtime of the equipment: banking, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals and data centers.
