High hydrogen sulfide content, from 200 to 600 ppm - is the characteristic of oil, produced from the Carboniferous productive formations of Tatarstan fields. To meet requirements to stock-tank oil, PJSC «Tatneft» uses technologies, based on physical and chemical methods of hydrogen sulfide stripping. Improvement of the technologies will decrease oil production costs, so this is a top-priority task for the Company.
Materials and methods
The stripping process was studied; methods of improving the process weredeveloped. Pilot tests demonstrated that the methods can decrease costs, associated with removal of hydrogen sulfide.
Results
The appropriate physical methods of improving the process of hydrogen sulfide stripping were developed, tested, and commercialized by TatNIPIneft Institute.
Сonclusions
Low-pressure hot separation process, using liquid-ring pumps, makes it possible to decrease consumption of hydrogen sulfidechemical scavenger, and in some cases to stop using it at all. The decreasing of pressure in the stripper is more effective at low temperature (40-50°С). If capacity of existing separators and compressors allows, changing oil composition upstream of the stripper by gas cycling from compressor outlet to the first stage separation line, will be the preferable technological solution.
